I figured I'd let you guys in on the fun. So I posted this picture on the Red vs. Blue forum, and a few otherwise intelligent posters occasionally drag the topic back to how Mega Bloks "sucks."
Figures: Lego - 7 points of articulation, Mega - 13 points of articulation, 5 of which are ball-and-socket, and more sculpted detail
Clutch: about the same on smaller sets, but Mega's large vehicles and ships are more solidly built and are not plates on a technic skeleton like Lego's
Price: Mega Bloks sets cost about 2/3 the price of a comparable Lego set
Theme: Mega Bloks has Halo
Name recognition: Lego wins this one
anything I missed in case someone brings it up again?
Seconded. At this point it's like politics or religion. You're never going to change anyone's mind no matter how rational or well-reasoned your argument is, so it's not worth even expending the effort. You'd have better luck convincing a cat not to lick its own cloaca.
Yeah, there's no winning an argument like that. I sometimes chime in if I see someone telling blatant falsehoods about Mega Brands, but I no longer seek out such discussions. I'd rather let them stew in their own misconceptions, because they certainly wouldn't ever admit that they were wrong, even if they were made to see the real (and ever-improving) value of the brand.
And for god's sake, don't engage in brand-bashing!

Its really hard to win at an opinion based argument, like others above said, when it comes to stuff like preferences on brands, politics, or religion, just know that your right in your viewpoint, and others are right in theirs. Now as for my opinion on the matter, I used to think mega bloks were lower quality (and for a while they had that rep) but I think we have seen a major improvment and at the same time Lego is making more parts over in china rather than denmark. so when it all comes down to it, its what you like, just know that you will get more for your money with mega, but lego sets are just as cleverly designed and almost always good for kids who want to play.
I want to thank both Lego and Megabrands for both making toys that I loved as a child. They both still make great products, but since I'm not a child anymore they are called "collectors items" and "stuf for display"

On the bright side, debates of this type seem to be the rare exception to Godwin's Law. So far...
Once you mention that, it's hard (nay, impossible!) not to compare LEGO snobbery to Aryan supremacy - unfounded, unreasonable, and surprisingly malicious at times. That, and LEGO did try to "exterminate" sales of MB in North America. LEGOS ARE TOTAL NAZIS, MAN!!!
guano, I think I just ruined your point . 500th post! WOO

De gustibus non est disputandum.
Of course I also feel that such disputes are of little value in that I personally prefer diversity in the marketplace. A little competition spurs innovation and encourages developement of lines that would otherwise never see the light of day.

And that is the entire point of the Latin phrase. Precisely how you can account for one having any sort of affinity for that which you listed? You can't. It's an irrational and entirely subjective matter that one would be hard pressed to understand let alone dispute.

It's like Wargames, the only way to win is not to play.
I collect Halo because it's fun. Nothing to hate other people about. The vast majority of people don't collect Halo, I'm not insane enough to hate people who dislike what I like.
Lego fans who hate MB do not seem to enjoy it as a fun hobby. It's like when sports teams hate each other, and fight. I'm thinking british football thugs mostly.
You won't change anyone's mind, but it's valiant to at least state what you like.
