The plan used to be having two Sig Series on the shelf any given year, be it a new set or one still in production (the CoD Hovercraft spread over two years)

Of course, that got blown-up last year with three such sets (Spirit, Enterprise, Technodrome). Still, that could also result in one this year (that red Destiny ship) with one of those three being the "second" set.

Or MEGA could be seeing diminishing returns on Signature Series. I always end up kicking myself for buying one of those sets right-away only to see them at a huge, permanent discount a couple of months later, not to mention the few BOGO-Free sales I've seen recently. I'm going to keep an eye on the destiny set from this year to see how low it'll go before I jump in Smiley

Let me tell you that in Mexico, those 3 sets not only peg-warmed, but got discounted HARD. The Spirit was selling for $50 usd for a long time (I personally saw over 60 spirits spread over several walmarts in my city for $50 usd each), and it got as low as $25 throughout the whole country. The Enterprise and Technodrome reached $50 usd each too, and the Technodrome is still available in walmart.com.mx for about $90 usd. I seriously think they lost a lot of money on the spirit.

Just says to me that the theory I've had for a while is probably right. Building sets aren't hot right now. Building set figures are hot right now. I have to think MEGA recognized this when they started pumping out so many figure sets and individually carded figs in addition to blind-bags.
