My older son wanted an Xbox One for Christmas because he loves racing games, and the best deal we found was the Halo edition Xbox with a 1TB drive and Halo 5 included.

After a 700-hour download and install, I finally played a non-8-bit Halo game for the very first time. Quite impressive, especially considering that my last 1st-person shooter was probably Doom 95.

I haven't gotten very far yet because, as an old-timer, the controller is taking a bit of getting used to, but I'm learning. Also very satisfying to see the "live" versions of the figures, vehicles and weapons that I've been collecting in blok-form for all these years.

"You've taken your first step into a larger world"

"Welcome to the party, pal!"

If you're playing the remastered version, be sure to switch back and forth from time to time to compare the difference in visuals... it's amazing!

You poor, poor man Smiley

If you've got Halo 5 on there I'd suggest your first forays into Multiplayer be in the Warzone Firefight mode. That's where you and a group of other players cooperate to take out computer controlled enemies. A lot less aggravating than standard multiplayer which is just getting killed every 20 seconds while foul-mouthed children scream at you.

I just dusted Halo 5 off this past weekend after a year-long hibernation, so if you need an experienced* player to buddy-up with, just let me know and we can exchange gamertag info

*Note that I said "experienced" and not "good".

Thanks, guys!

Considering that I spent about ten minutes hopping up and down in place before figuring out how to "clamber," it'll likely be a while before I have the nerve to let anyone else witness my follies!

I missed that you were starting with Halo 5...if you want the genuine Halo experience, you should really play them in order...which you can now do for under 10 bucks on the Xbox One:

Finish the fight...in order!

Well, I completed the game in "Pathetic Noob" mode. Now I'm chipping away at the more grown-up difficulty levels.

One silly thing I've noticed about myself is that, previously, I was only mildly interested in picking up the DYH88 UNSC Fireteam Osiris, because I don't usually grab the figure packs. However, having played as Locke, I now feel this ridiculous need to grab the set!

Yeah, this year I resolved to stop buying just straight figure sets with very little to build in them, but I'm still going to pick that set up just to get the full Fire Team Osiris. Everyone but Tanaka have been available previously in various sets, but it's still nice to have them all in the same box. Looking forward to Blue Team as well. Hope they continue at regular intervals with the likes of Noble team, Alpha-Nine, Gray Team, Spartan Black, Etc.
