This isn't intended to be a general wishlist thread, so don't confuse it for one, it's just a hypothetical scenario I've been thinking of and thought some of you might like to join in on.

We've had quite a few large figure packs (i.e. 16-20 figures in one box) recently, which I've sorted into three style categories. I thought it might be fun to make a sort of game of listing what our ideal versions of each style might be if Mega ever made more.

Category 1: Tribute Pack
In the same vein as the Spartan Tribute Pack, if there were another pack featuring one mold in varying colors, which figure would you choose? Assume the same color pallet.

Category 2: Skirmish/Battle
Both the Outlands Skirmish and the Ultimate Battle Pack had the opposite configuration: several related molds all in the same color (Skirmish was Reach spartans in green vs. reach brutes in blue, Battle was Halo 3 spartans in steel vs. Halo 3 elites in purple). You can pick one mold category and one color or do half-and-half like the sets, though that might be cheating a bit since the Covenant halves in those sets tended to focus more on army-building than variants.

Category 3: Grab Bag
It might be out of a lot of peoples' memory, but there was a black friday exclusive at TRU a few years ago called the "Ultimate Combat Pack" with 20 figures that seemed to have been chosen somewhat at random. The (loose) theme was cyan and orange Covenant vs. black and green UNSC, but there were some oddballs thrown in as well. For the sake of keeping it specific, let's limit it to one grouping of figures that you'd like to see with a randomly applied pallet of colors.

Rules:

  • No listing the individual molds you'd want - that would be too wish-listy. There's an exception for the first category, for obvious reasons.
  • No just saying "UNSC" or "Covenant" for figure types - narrow it down to something else like rank/species/game etc.
  • No suggesting new molds - you're limited to what molds Mega's already made (i.e. you can't suggest "New Articulation Reach Elites" since there aren't any).

-----

The first one's a tough choice, but I'd probably have to go with the new-style Halo 4 MK VI (i.e. the Master Chief figure). It would be cool and crazy to have elite minors or drones or something, but I can't think of anything besides the basic spartan that really justifies having it and it alone in EVERY color. If I like the new version of the Halo Wars spartan once I have one in-hand, that might take the spot for me.

For the second, I'd do a split between metallic blue Halo 4/5 Spartans and crimson Halo 4/5 Covenant (elites, jackals, grunts). Basically a "Good Covenant vs. Evil UNSC" set with ONI saboteurs against Swords of Sanghelios. I personally associate the blue from the recent Spartan customizer pack with ONI. I guess others might prefer covert ops, but it doesn't really seem like it would be as stunning as the metallic dark red/dark blue contrast I'm picturing.

The third, I'd have to go with new-style Reach Spartans. Reach seems to have gotten the short end of the stick with recolors, since it's split across the articulation gap, takes a back seat to 4/5 molds, and at least one Reach-centric set is nearly impossible to find (Last Man Standing II). Mega seems to have a thing for putting out the Reach molds in orange (a phenomenon which I have dubbed "Fireteam Cheddar") but It'd be nice to get a good grab bag of generic Spartan IIIs/Halo Reach multiplayer avatars.

For some reason, I think I should save my game in a brand new slot.

I don't do Halo sets much any more, but I'll do an answer to the first one - marines in the vein of the Firebase set. That would be nice.

Tribute Pack - Since, to me, the Tribute Pack was sort of the last hurrah of the old-style SPARTAN mold, I'd like to see an Elite Tribute pack with that first basic Elite mold in all those various colors. Put it to rest in style.

Battle - ODST pack. Have it based on the game with some ODSTs and some NMPD/ONI troopers against Grunts, Brutes, and Jackals. Maybe a Drone or two. Throw in a few K-rail barriers and other city/New Mombasa-related environmental elements and you've got a great supplement to the NMPD stuff from last year.

Grab Bag - Howsabout figures we've seen very few of. On the UNSC side we could get some random techs and Navy personnel with perhaps a medic or Sgt. Johnson-type tossed in there. On the Covie side we could have a Prophet or a few more Skirmishers. Failing that, some weirdly colored Promethean forces might be a kick.

Tribute Pack - I have to go with Dino on this one because it's not only the most logical choice in terms of a tribute but it also keeps a consistent variety too instead of the nonstop Spartan hoard. A original Elite mold tribute pack with a solid gold Elite similar to the Air Assault from Outlands Skirmish would be perfect!

Battle - The Great Schism/Sanghelios Civil War. Now this might be two different packs or one mega pack altogether but something with every faction pitted against each other like scenes from Halo 2 and Halo 5 is drool worthy just thinking about it. Elites, Brutes, Grunts, Jackals, Drones, Promethean Soldiers, Crawlers, Watchers, Swords of Sanghelios, and maybe even a couple deluxe like Hunters & Knights. Just imagine the pure excitement finding something like this one shelves...

Grab Bag - We've gotten quite a few orange Spartans lately but personally I'd love to see every current mold available that hasn't gotten the citrus treatment yet in one pack.

Tribute Pack - UNSC technician would be useful to have in different colors, but silly, I guess - certainly wouldn't sell well.

Grab-bag - Cannon-Fodder Party Pack - various colors/sculpts of Grunts, Drones, Watchers, and Crawlers. Packaged with confetti and a Keychain fob that makes the grunt birthday party sound-byte.

Skirmish/Battle Packs -

- "Chilltacular" Holiday exclusive - a winter themed pack, with Spartans and marines in Arctic camo, and Covenant with frost effects. Alternatively, could specifically homage the snowy/icy levels of Halo I or Reach.

- "Insurrection" - ONI-themed Spartans & ODSTs, vs. Innies and Pirates (grungy repaints of Marines and Jackals)

- "Betrayal" - Halo 2 Elites, Grunts, and Hunters vs. Halo 2 Brutes and Jackals.

- "Trident" - Halo 3 Era UNSC (Marines, Pilots, and ODSTs), Separatists (Elites), and Flood vs. Covenant Loyalists (Brutes, Grunts, Jackals)

- "Boarding Action" - All Zero-G/Hard Vacuum themed pieces, so Elite Rangers, EVA Spartans, and the Halo Reach Marines with the enclosed helmets.
