I just raided my local Wal-Mart's Clearance aisle, I'm in the middle of building the giant Krang Bot at the moment. I paid $1 each for the Out Of The Shadows Figure Packs, $4 for the Rocksteady pack, and *9 for the Krang Bot set.... Arena Of The Planeswalkers was $7.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Some very good Saturday morning Goodwill hunting pickups. Along with the usual toys, video games and robots, I made a few unusual blok finds. The first was a bagged lights and sounds Gausshog for $2.99. Not only did it include the figures, which are typically missing from a used set, but had 3 additional figures to boot! Then was a like-new Nanoblocks Statue of Liberty set for only 99 cents…MSRP on this thing is $60!!! Who buys this stuff? At least I now have a backdrop for the Mega Bloks Nano vehicles I found last year. Finally was a sealed Mega Bloks set that was nearly 20 years old…from a line called “Creature Seekers.” Most interesting thing to me is that it is labeled “Micro Mega Bloks”…seems the effort to differentiate the Lego-compatible sets from the jumbo preschool products is nothing new…and IMHO “Micro Mega Bloks” sounds better than “Mega Construx”, but what do I know…

The Creature Seeker line will always hold a special place in my heart, even if the designs and figures are primitive by today's standards, and the plastic is of a different formulation. Great stuff!

Hey, I don't suppose that the scorpion has a part number printed on it anywhere? Probably not, but I lost my last one years ago, so I ca'nt check for myself.

Great find!

There is a "2" under one of the claws, but i'm guessing it's a mold number instead of a part number. The set number is 9122, but the instructions do not have a piece list, nor are there any numbers noted next to pieces. It did have a cool little catalog with the standard preschool sets, a few ProBuilder sets, and a number of lines I have not heard of before, but that's it.

Very cool! I always get a kick out of the imaginative themes of the Creature Seeker sets!

Thanks for checking. I actually have the instructions, but I was hoping for a little part number miracle on the scorpion itself.

Yes, it's fun to look back on the history. I have a few years' catalogs scanned here. Is yours one of those?

Another good deal from shopgoodwill.com was (drop)shipped to me last week. Saw they had a Spirit Signature set up for auction, saying it was incomplete, missing figures, and only showing 4 small bags of bloks along with the packaging and manual. I was wary at first, but noticed that the weight of the item was listed as 11 lbs., which matched the listed weight of a sealed set on other sites. Decided to take a chance and bested a few others with a winning bid of $22. Once it arrived, I opened it up, and sure enough, the second interior box was full of all of the bags of bloks they had neglected to photograph. Struggled past some difficult-to-decipher steps to finish the build, but literally all that was missing were the figures and weapons. Who buys a $100-$200 set, pulls the figures and weapons, and dumps the rest at Goodwill? I don’t really like the redesign of the Halo Spirit, preferring the clean lines of the original, but Mega’s build is solid and well-engineered for the most part. So I’m not complaining, as it was cheap and even though the minifigs were missing…I’ve got plenty of spare crew to fill up the bays!

Found an open box ProBuilder Dune Racer set at Goodwill this weekend and put it together last night. It was missing a number of pieces, but fortunately none of the ones that were unique to the set, and I was able to dig up replacements. Fun build with a nicely detailed chrome engine.

Found some interesting Mega Bloks Dragons scenery pieces at Goodwill today…one is a pair of rune-covered columns and the other looks like it might have been a gate topper of some sort. Push 3 of the runes in a certain order on the first, and a secret compartment slowly grinds open…pull up on the centerpiece of the second, and the two dragons snap backwards. Not sure what I’ll do with them, but for 99 cents each I couldn’t say no.

I still have almost all of the original Dragons sets (by that I mean before they changed minifig styles). They had a quite a few of the light up "jewels" on pieces. And some very nice "one off" pieces that were never seen again.
